Optimise SEO for voice search

How to Optimise Content for Voice Search?

Write naturally, in a conversing way. Answer the questions your consumers are asking, as website content for voice search isn’t about keywords, it is about building context to a question for the user. What’s the intention of the question?

It’s essential to know and understand that the user is expecting a concise reply and by doing so both you and the search engine can deliver more accurate results.

Doing intensive keyword research, you will find long-tail keyword phrases which users are searching and can come across as a question, grab the opportunity and if it relates to your business answer it on your website. Because when Google crawls your data, it will be more efficient and start appearing in the voice search results.

This will help your business appeal to user’s needs, rank higher for voice keywords and get more conversions from it. Your business will generate more traffic giving you more chance of sales, so being that one-step of your competitors who haven’t considered this is important.

Voice Search SEO Tips

It will become the norm in the future as already people type slower than they speak.

On the same topic, the same is happening with video content: it is becoming more appealing to watch someone speak about something rather than read a long blog.

On average, humans speak 150 words in the same time it would take them to type 40

Here’s how Creative Ideaz prepare for businesses users who need SEO voice search:

  • Talk like your customers would, have a conversation and essentially “Think like a human”- in tone and function of their needs.
  • Ask the questions your target customers would. Are there certain questions they need to ask to find you?
  • Is your site mobile friendly? Well it should be, as more voice searched are initiated from mobile devices.
  • Aim to be a featured snippet, the block at the top of the search results page, because who doesn’t read this first?
  • Page speed must be quick. Someone who is using voice search is in a hurry so will be bouncing back off your website if it is too slow.
  • Make sure your data is structured in the HTTML code. This will help search engines read your pages content without getting confused.

“OK Google, We’re Ready to Start SEO for Voice Search”

Now you have all the tools you need but remember, don’t totally dismiss traditional SEO. Most of the queries searched are still typed, so it is vital to cater for these too.

Since 2020, voice search SEO has changed significantly. Firstly, the percentage of users who use voice search at least once a day has increased dramatically, from 25% to 42%. Additionally, how content must be tailored to users has also changed - businesses must now consider regular typed and voice searches when creating their digital marketing strategy. This is because the way people search is changing, with more and more people using voice search to find what they need.

This is also evident in the UK population; according to Google, 66% of UK smartphone users have used voice search in the past year. As this number continues to grow, businesses need to ensure they cater to this type of search by tailoring content specifically for voice searches. Quick ways you can optimise your business for voice searches:

  • Use natural language when writing your content – speak directly to your audience with conversational keywords.
  • Incorporate long-tail keywords into your website copy, as these are more likely to be used by voice searchers.
  • Make sure your content includes relevant and specific information about your product or service that is likely to answer users' questions.
  • Ensure your website is mobile-friendly to ensure that users can access it easily, no matter how they search.

Overall, the key to optimising your website for voice search is creating relevant and easy-to-understand content for your target audience. With the increasing popularity of voice searches, this is an essential part of any digital marketing.
