How the pandemic changed shopping

How has things changed?

During these recent and unprecedented times, many people have evaluated their spending as well as what they value the most, in order to reduce costs.

Since the beginning of the year, things have been different which could have a knock-on effect on the world as well as the future of your business.

So, what are consumers now looking for now?

1. An ethical brand

What does this mean for business owners?

A survey conducted by Marie Claire showed 20% of people are vowing to choose to spend with businesses that care about their employees, put their people first and support causes to change the world for the better.

This includes companies that produce more sustainable clothing and increasingly use more eco-friendly packaging that can be recycled.

2. Local (supporting the local area)

With all the uncertainty of high street brands and many small businesses facing closure, it is almost a call for arms to save the small, obscure and unique businesses.

They want to know that they are contributing to helping real people instead of feeding huge corporations, by purchasing from companies who use raw materials and put their heart into hand crafted products.

3. A brand that doesn’t just stand by

Not only has the world been through a global pandemic, we have also seen the rise in people fighting for justice. So, having a brand donate and make significant changes to their own company, by speak out and using their voice to support the positive changes in the world is noteworthy to a consumer.

Anyone working in a higher position for a company need to consider the messages they leave online as well as offline, since this will affect the success and popularity of their business.
