Over 1 Million UK Jobs in e-Commerce in next 4 years

An estimated that 1.5 million UK staff will work within the e-commerce industry within the next four years according to new research from IMRG and eDigitalResearch.
The second annual IMRG e-Jobs Index shows that 63% of online businesses increased staff levels over the past year alone, with an estimated 730,000 now working in, or in support of, the e-commerce industry as revenues continue to grow.
The study, conducted in association with eDigitalResearch, shows that 74% of e-commerce departments and businesses have increased their turnover since last year and presents a huge opportunity for the industry to develop further, as another 60% of e-businesses are looking to increase staff numbers over the next 12 months.
However, this figure is considerably lower than what was anticipated. Last year, over 80% of those surveyed said that they hoped to recruit over the coming months. The actual number of companies that recruited new members of staff stands at 17.45% lower than this and is likely to be attributed to the recent and rapid growth of the m-commerce market.
Chris Russell, Director at eDigitalResearch, explains, “As we continue to see the popularity of smartphones and other emerging channels increase with consumers, retailers are beginning to merge and combine multiple departments and operations in order to create a coherent message across the board for all of their customers. This is not to say that the e-commerce jobs market is beginning to decline. It simply means that, along with everything else in the e-commerce industry, it is evolving in order to cope with the shifting consumer trends we are witnessing”.
Almost half (43.24%) of those surveyed suggested that up to 50% of their total revenue is generated via the internet. More importantly, another 40% (41.08%) indicated that 91-100% of overall revenue comes from e-commerce channels, an increase of 4% on the same figures last year, and represents the continued growth of the e-commerce industry and the importance for dedicated e-commerce teams and staff members.
James Roper, CEO at IMRG, comments, “The continuing strong growth in e-jobs is particularly welcome now when so much employment is being lost across the rest of the economy.  The UK leads Europe in e-retail, so many of these new jobs are well paid and right at the cutting edge of commercial innovation, with the skills being developed here arming Britain to win in the ultra-competitive global online marketplace that is already worth billions of pounds per annum to thousands of UK e-retailers who are selling cross-border.  Despite the recession, domestic e-retail continues to grow at 18% year-on-year as millions of hard-pressed consumers shop online to make their money stretch further, and with a third of the UK’s adult population yet to shop online, e-retail is set to continue to be a key employment generator for years to come”.
Unsurprisingly, Christmas remains the most popular time of the year for online businesses to recruit extra staff, with one in four retailers (27.5%) declaring that they will look to employ temporary staff to help with the increase in online activity.
It is also important to acknowledge that a considerable amount of staff also work in areas supporting the e-commerce industry, including distribution and delivery, customer support and website development. It is estimated that 115,700 delivery staff will distribute over one billion parcels to online customers in 2011.

UK Mortgage Comparison Website

Search engine giant Google has launched a mortgage comparison site in the UK after launching something similar in the United States a while back.
According to an article on the site MortgageStrategy, the company is piloting a website called Compare UK Mortgages which offers links to leading mortgage vendors like Woolwich, ING Direct, Lloyds TSB, NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Google refused to comment on the website but MortgageStrategy claims that users are being requested to fill-in feedback forms, which questions people on their mortgage searching history or whether they have used a mortgage broker before.

“Only time will tell how successful this service will be and what other products will be arriving in the UK. It will also be interesting to see how many of the direct marketers that spend millions of pounds each year generating financial services leads through Google react to this latest development,” Justin Rees, director of marketing and partnerships at LeadPoint UK said.
Google had earlier launched a similar service in the US called Google Advisor, which allows people to search for financial services. The company also purchased UK based website BeatThatQuote.com for an estimated £40 million in March this year.

We are spending £22 million an hour

Whilst high street shops continue to try and grab people, via expensive advertising campaigns and paying celebrities, Rockefella-type pay checks, (think Twiggy, Gemma, Kate) to don on their clothes, the internet shops are effortlessly pulling in the customers. And, the customers, sometimes spending at a rate of £22 million an hour, are more than happy to shell out online.

Kate Hamper, an internet entrepreneur, said that the “bargains are to be found online,” the idea of Christmas queues and surrounded by armies of people are far more distressing than 1 click shopping.

Even still, one could not predict the rate of spending that is happening. A whopping £5.2 billion was spent by people shopping online last month, which is almost a quarter up on figures from 2009.

“The shopping experience online is more comfortable, relaxed and really emphasises the power of the consumer, which consumers like. Think about it, you can either go to a store and have people pushing products under your face, of you can go online and have an inexhaustible amount of options,” argues Sam Anderson an online shopping expert.

Since January of this year, online shoppers have shopped their way to £46 billion, which is a 17% rise from last year. Even industry experts who predicted the power of internet shopping did not foresee this sharp rise in online shopping.

Of cause this is great news for both consumers and online sellers. On line retailers are competing for some of that £46 billion. Whereas consumers are turned on by the vast competition of sellers, all trying to offer the cheapest deal they can. Online competition is much more fierce than then of the limited shops on the high street.

Our Philosophy

Having been involved in the online world for years Creative Ideaz knows the connection between business growth and internet presence. In the past it was not possible for most businesses to grow at a rapid paste just because they were online, though now, it is a complete change around.

Along came Google, and some how it became the most popular search engine. Sadly though, so did Pay Per Click costs, which businesses paid to get on the first pages of Google. Some companies who have come to us have paid anyway where from £500 to £5000 a month to achieve this.

Our philosophy has always been to get businesses to prosper, and one way we did was through creating great websites which were captivating. Though as our SEO Consultants came to discover it was about learning which key phrases people search for in your industry and where your website ranks on Google pages.

It became our mission to get any business in any market on the first pages of Google when the most popular words in their industry are searched for. Our SEO Consultants have done this for hundreds of clients and achieved first page results. Our track record is proven.

Give us a call and see what our trained SEO Consultants can do for you.

Cost Effective Business

In business we are all looking to get ranked on the first pages of Google when the key phrases of our industry are typed in. As SEO consultants we have worked closely with many small companies to achieve this. And we have, they have got on the first page of Google without having to pay the ever increasing costs of Pay Per Click charges.

Our Search Engine Optimisation consultancy team discovered with recent clients that many paid upwards of £400 for the Pay Per Click service. Furthermore, they assumed this was the only way to get on the first page of Google and achieve web traffic. Thankfully, it is not. For much less and with clever use of search engine optimisation you can achieve first page Google rankings.

Lets bust some myths. You do not need to be a big established company with high turnover to be afford to be on Googles first page. In fact we have taken many start up businesses and gotten them on the first page of Google and they have grown into become highly successful companies.

Google is the preferred search engine for the majority of people and when they search for a key phrase within your industry such as “phone charger” you can get your company to appear on the first page of Google without hefty Pay Per Click costs, not maybe but definitely.

Website Design

Any one in this industry knows the vital importance of website design.

First, comes your google rank, if your not on the first page, forget it. If you are though and someone clicks on your website, get the design wrong, you can guarantee that the person will easily leave.

Lets take a look at Myspace as the most recent model. Once the dominant social network site, with over a 100 million users. It was the site where teenagers around the world filled the pages with unorganised clutter, adverts, music clips and news feeds.

It was so popular in fact, that media mogul Rupert Murdoch bought it in 2005.

Along came Facebook, with its clear streamlined boxes, white background, adverts neatly tucked away in the right hand side of the screen. Whilst Facebook lets its users have relative control over their page,  whereas Myspace did a “do it your self” design, they have managed to keep the design so that it appeals to all.

Whilst Myspace continues to loose “valued” customers yearly, Facebook users increased by 50% in 1 year. This tells us something about the crucial element of design.

At Creative Ideaz we know the design is absolutely central. Whilst we will get you on the first page of google, we know that to keep your users on the page we must attract them through savvy website design. That’s our speciality.
