COMMON SEO MYTHS BUSTED

Search engines keep on altering their rules on a regular basis and sometimes it becomes difficult to keep up with all these changes. Since search engines change their algorithms daily to tackle spam, some people get confused about the search engine policies.

Following are some of the common SEO myths that you need to take care of:

1. It is believed that the use of header tags on your website will get you a higher ranking on the search engines. It is a false notion that keywords in the H tag can push up your search engine rankings.

2. Another common myth is that you should get your URL manually registered to get it listed in the search engines. But the Internet has become very advanced now and you only need to get your URL listed οn a few Web 2.0 sites οr those forums that get frequently crawled. Also, manual registration is not a good option since it can stretch the indexing process.

3. Another thing that needs to be kept in mind is that it is not required to optimize every page on your website for a single phrase. This will only degrade your content as you will forcibly write articles repeating a single keyword phrase.

Also, you do not use additional key phrases and by doing this you do not make optimum use of your web space. Better results can be achieved if you target different keyword phrases on a single page.

4. You will not be able to fool the search engines to get a higher ranking. Even if you are able to do so, your prospective customer will also get misleading signals. Eventually, your conversion rate will not be high. Therefore you should only put relevant content on your website and do effective link building so that you get a high ranking on the search engines.

5. While optimizing your website if you are not able to adhere to Google’s guidelines, you will not be banned. Just take care that you don’t get into spamming or any other kind of fraud.

6. Adding new content on your website regularly does not affect your rankings on the search engines. However, it will definitely make the spiders crawl your website more frequently.

Last but not the least, just keep yourself updated about the latest advancements in SEO and you will surely not falter.
